A couple of people requested a tutorial for the hairstyle I wore to the Masquerade, so here it is! The end result looks complicated and super fancy, but it's really very simple to put together. I had a difficult time getting good pictures of each step, so I hope they don't confuse you all too much :/...
For this hairstyle you will need:
- a curling rod (I use this one from Amazon: I've had it for over four years and I L-O-V-E it)
- bobby pins (a LOT of bobby pins)
- hair spray
- clips (optional)
Step One: Curl your hair... You want to curl small, one inch sections because this look requires very tight curls to look right. I clip up each curl to cool while I curl the rest of my hair; it helps the curl keep it's shape longer, but is optional.
Step Two: Take the front three or four inches of your hair and pin it back from your forehead to add some volume. It's best to use bobby pins that match your hair color so they're not visible.
Step Three: Take the section of hair above your ear (at about eyebrow height) and twist together. Loosen up the twist a bit with your fingers, then pin across the back of your head. Repeat with other side and add bobby pins as needed to keep in place.
Step Four: Starting directly below the pinned sections of hair, begin rolling each curl up to the back of your head and pinning them in place.
Continue rolling up the curls, filling the back of your head as much as you like, then adding to the sides.
