//Sunday Style/Trusting God//

Hi there, ya'll! =)
Don't you love it when you go through your closet and find things you forgot you owned but absolutely love? I know I do ;P.  This cardigan was one of my favorite things to wear a few years ago, but had been somehow become lost among all my other sweaters until I stumbled upon it yesterday.  Yes, I know, I need to clean out my closet and organize my life a bit more; in fact it's one of my resolutions for this year.  I'm a bit less fond of the shiny buttons now, so I think I may replace those with some more classic black ones before I wear it again.

This Sunday we were blessed to hear a wonderful sermon on the story of Our Lord and the Apostles in the little boat during the storm on the sea.  One of the parts that stuck out most for me was the point the priest made about how during the storm and all the commotion from the frightened apostles, Our Lord still slept peacefully, with no worry or apprehension.  Every action and word of Our Lord's is meant to be a perfect example for us, and this particular story seems to be very important to me, particularly in the world we live in now.  Everywhere we turn, there is a new disaster, a new thing to worry about, another problem that must be solved, and having a peaceful heart grows harder and harder every day, but still we are called to place our complete trust in God and not to worry.  Like Our Lord, we must overcome our worry and learn to be immune to the tumult that surrounds us, and sleep peacefully, knowing everything is in the hands of Our Heavenly Father.  It's ironic how we make our burdens so much harder by all the worrying and overthinking we do, then we blame Our Lord for how hard it is to bear...If we learned to accept our crosses and trust Our Lord like He asks us to, our lives would become so much more peaceful and happy.

Anyways, sorry for the rant, but this particular sermon really hit home with me and I wanted to share it with you all =).  Maybe I'll start adding a summary of our Sunday sermons to my Sunday Style posts, if you would all like to read about it...

//Awkward/Awesome//

Hi there, ya'll!=)
It is a bee-yu-ti-ful day today! The sun is shining, a strong wind is blowing, and it's just cold enough for a coat, but not so cold that you're shivering.  For this outfit, I layered a chunky sweater over my favorite black dress and added the scarf to give it more flattering look.  This dress is perfect for gusty days because the skirt is hardly flared at all and doesn't blow much in the wind, which is always a bonus in my book.  I *love* really flared and full skirts and dresses, but they tend to fly up at the slightest breeze, so I generally stick with straighter silhouettes.

//Awkward//

  • exercising for the first time since before Thanksgiving...*grooooaaaaaannnn* I'm so sore...
  • explaining to a young friend that no, my fifteen year brother is not older than me. and, yes, despite appearances, I really, truly am in my twenties
  •  debating back and forth with myself about whether or not I really want that dress from ThredUp...out loud
  • asking my mom to rent the second "Pirates Of The Caribbean" movie, and ending up buying the collectors edition of the whole series because, well, why not?
  • taking outfit pictures in the rain
  • wearing very slippery shoes to dance class and nearly falling flat on my face every time I took a step
  • half the dance class practicing the jig step while the other half watched (and laughed, of course ;P)
  • my brother stealing my shower gel because it smells so nice XD

//Awesome//

  • some dear friends getting me "Death In Zanzibar" by M.M.Kay for my birthday
  • re-watching all my favorite "FitzSimmons" moments from season one of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • my brother's chocolate chip cookies
  • redecorating my room (thank you, Pinterest!)
  • new shoes for dancing
  • finding the box of caramels I received for Christmas and apparently forgot all about after putting them in a drawer
  • my new Cherry Blossom perfume from L'Occitane
  • planning our (verrrrrry late) Christmas party
  • walks on sunny days

//Sunday Style/Rainy Days//

 Hi there, ya'll! ;)
I'm going to start off with apologizing for the less-than-great quality of the photos in this post...taking pictures in the freezing rain without having eaten any breakfast will have that result, I'm afraid ;P.

This skirt is one of the most versatile pieces in my closet! It works for so many different outfits, occasions, and pretty much all four seasons, AND happens to be blue, so, of course, I love wearing it.  This has been my favorite way of styling it so far, to be honest; it pretty much combines all my favorite accessories into one outfit ;).

Sunday morning was rainy and verrrrrry windy, so I didn't really bother with fixing my hair.  Days like this make me so grateful for hats; I just tied my hair back into a side ponytail, put on my favorite hat, and no one could tell I barely even brushed it ;).

//Sunday Style/ Vintage Blue//

Hi, everyone! =)
My Sunday Style post is a bit late this week because I was out of town with some of my family for most of this week and didn't have my computer with me...

This past Saturday my brother and I attended a formal dance and were up very, very late, which of course resulted in me oversleeping and having approximately half an hour to find an outfit, put on makeup, eat something and get out the door in time for Mass :/.  Seeing as I was still half asleep, I was looking for something to wear that would feel as comfy as my pajamas, but still look nice.  I've had this sweater for nearly a year, but have hardly worn it because the neckline was too low and it looked to bulky when I wore a shirt underneath it (at least to me).  A very dear friend gave me this beautiful scarf for Christmas, and when I tried it with the sweater, it fixed my neckline problem perfectly, as well as dressed up the whole outfit.  Voila! Problem solved ;P...

For those of you who haven't noticed, blue is my favorite color, and I tend to wear it A LOT ;P. I love it in pretty much any shade, but the shade of this scarf is definitely my favorite...

I don't wear vintage looks very often, but I really like the way this outfit turned out, so I may try adding some more vintage touches to my wardrobe this year =).
I hope you all had a wonderful week and a blessed weekend!

//Epiphany//Cream and Plaid//

Happy Feast of the Epiphany!
We certainly had a surprise this morning when we woke to find the ground covered with a blanket of snow! It's more of an icy snow than a powdery snow, and the air itself feels as if it was frozen, so I wore as many layers as I could (without looking like an Eskimo) to Mass this morning ;P.

This sweater is NOT a very flattering color for me, but I love the design and the way it fits me so I wear it anyway.  I've found that if I wear a brighter color close to my face, it helps make the sweater more flattering to my skin tone (#styleadvicefromMaddi ;P).

Unfortunately there isn't really enough snow to do anything with, except look at it and take pictures, so I plan to spend my snow day making pizza and getting things ready for a formal ball my family and I are attending tomorrow :).  I hope you all are staying warm and enjoying the holiday season!

What's your favorite thing to do on a snow day?
