| Masqurade Ball |

Hi there, ya'll! =)
 On Saturday my family and I attended a Masquerade Ball held by some friends in honor of Mardi Gras.  I wish I could share pictures of all the beautiful, modest, satin gowns, but we were not allowed to take pictures at the ball itself :/.  One of my favorite parts of attending these dances is seeing how all the young ladies put together such gorgeous outfits, using their imagination and creativity to turn an immodest gown into something beautiful and feminine.  One young lady made her entire outfit, even dying the fabric herself and making jeweled butterflies to use as accents on her skirt and in her hair.  Let me tell you, I get so much inspiration from all these wonderful ladies every year!

I absolutely looooove this dress from Lulu's! I was able to get it at nearly half the original price on Black Friday about two or three years ago, and it is my go-to formal dress.  The skirt is so unbelievably full and perfect for twirling, and the color is one of my favorite shades of blue.  Just putting it on makes me feel like a fairy tale character...I wish I could have found a better jacket to wear over it than this cardigan, but I didn't have time before the ball, so maybe next year. =)

Just a PSA; When I bought this dress, I cut off seven inches and hemmed it myself.  In this picture, I am wearing heels.  Maybe it's just because I'm 5'2", maybe this dress was designed for a giant, I don't know...;P

My masque was definitely my favorite accessory :).  I found it on Amazon for about ten dollars, and I just love how I can bend it to fit the shape of my face.  Unfortunately, it's very hard to smile with a masque on, so I was only able to wear it for a few dances at a time. =(

//Sunday Style丨St. Valentine's Day//

Hi there, ya'll! =)
So I was a bit disappointed with our weather this weekend...I took these pictures on Saturday, overjoyed that it was warm and sunny enough to wear my favorite dress again, and thinking how fitting it would be to wear it this particular weekend, being it looks so "Valentine's Day-ish".  But, to my dismay, I woke up Sunday morning to find the return of the chilly weather, and was forced to fall back to my sweaters and scarves for Mass -_-.  Oh well...

I purchased this dress impulsively (it was only five dollars, so it wasn't too bad) last year because I love anything lace, and the fact that it was too short, too low cut, and two sizes too big didn't bother me at all at that time ;P.  It sat on my sewing table for a few months until I found another dress that I bought (also impulsively) simply because I loved the material. I had the brilliant idea to combine the two (reason number 436 why every single girl in the world needs to know the basics of sewing), the result of which I love so much more than either of the originals! I feel like this dress is so much more "me" now that I've changed it up and added some details.

When I tried this dress on last week, I decided to take it in a bit more to make the silhouette more flattering; when I worked on it last year I focused more on the embellishments instead of the fit...not a good idea -_-.

A dear friend made me these earrings last year and they've become some of my favorites to wear! She and her family have an Etsy shop where they make all sorts of lovely jewelry, charms, and knitted goodies; I definitely recommend checking them out! ;)

//Awkward/Awesome|Lazer tag//

Hi there, ya'll! =)

It's so beautiful outside and it feels like Spring already! I've spent most of the day outside or in front of an open window ;).  At the moment I'm about to head back outdoors to finish fixing up my "new" antique mirror, but first I thought I'd update you all on what's been awkward or awesome this week for me.  Yesterday some friends met us at a lazer tag arena for a sort of going away party for my brother who is moving to a different city next week, and I made the mistake of wearing a grey sweater...the black-lights made it glow and to say I was an easy target would be putting it mildly -_-.  Next time, I think I'll just wear all black to be safe...
This is one of my emergency outfits; when I can't find anything else to wear, I throw on an outfit like this that I know I like and will be comfortable.  Simple, but still decent looking, and can be dressed up or down pretty much by just wearing different shoes.  When I wear a more casual outfit like this one, I always add some fancy looking earrings to make it look more feminine...actually, I just love earrings, so I wear them anyway ;P.

//Current Beauty Favorites//

Hi there, ya'll! =)
Today I thought I'd briefly share a few my current beauty favorites with you all! As some of you may know, I have Hashimoto's, which is an autoimmune disease and is triggered by gluten, so I have to be pretty careful about what I put on my skin.  After many years of testing products and having reactions to ones that weren't quite as clean as they claimed to be, I've managed to find several great brands that I feel safe using and are easy to work with.  These are a little more expensive than your regular drug store makeup, but in the long run they are definitely worth it considering how much better they are for your body.  Plus, most of these products are designed to nourish and protect your body, so it's a win-win! ;)

I have had THE HARDEST TIME finding a liquid foundation that I can wear.  My skin is too dry for just powder, and there are very few gluten-free liquid foundations out on the market that I've found so far, but Gabriel's is my current favorite.  It keeps my skin feeling moisturized all day and is very easy apply. It gives a medium to light coverage (which I prefer because it looks more natural) but still covers redness and blemishes pretty well.  Another great brand for foundation is Zuzu's; I loved their products, but the shades they carried didn't blend in with my skin tone :/.

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Red Apple Lipstick ;). I never really wore lipstick until I found them because I just couldn't find any shades that I liked on me, but Red Apple has SO MANY colors to choose from that it was easy.  All of their products are gluten, toxin, and cruelty free, and they have a six month return policy, even if you've already worn the product! My absolute favorite shade by them is "Unpinkable", but I'm always trying new ones.

Red Apple Lipstick doesn't just carry lipstick! They also happen to carry the best mascara I have ever owned, in brown and black.  Plus, this mascara nourishes your lashes, helping them grow longer and thicker every time you wear it.  I wear it almost every day and never have any problem with it clumping up...I have even slept with it on before and didn't wake up with any raccoon eyes.  I can't say enough about this product; I doubt I'll ever wear a different mascara.

Every lady needs a signature scent, something that just reflects her personality and makes her feel put together every time she wears it.  Some dear friends took me to a L'Occitane store a couple of years ago and, oh my goodness, I fell in love.  So many beautiful scents...and all toxin free! For my birthday this year, I received their Cherry Blossom gift set and it has become my favorite out of all their sets.  My little brother loves it too, and sprays the perfume in the air sometimes just to smell it XD.  My second favorite by them would be their Rose set; the Cherry Blossom scent is more subtle so I generally wear it for everyday, and the Rose for evening or formal events.  Right now they are having a lot of Valentine's Day sales, so it's be a great time to check them out!

What are some of your current beauty favorites? Tell me in the comments, and if you try any of the products I named here be sure to let me know what you think! =)

//Sunday Style/Birthday Scarf//

Hi there, ya'll! =)
I was rather taken aback when I realized I hadn't shared this scarf with you all yet! I've worn it at least once a week since I was given it as a birthday present, but somehow I never managed to get any pictures of me wearing it.  I had never tried infinity scarves before this, but now I'm definitely in love with them! Some of my dearest girl friends gave me this one and I still can't get over how versatile it is...It goes with almost everything in my closet and the style works wonderfully for covering too-low necklines =).  And can we all take a moment to appreciate this gorgeous shade of pink? I have friends with great taste, let me tell you ;).

One of my favorite things about Sunday is the extra time I have to read.  During the week there always seems to be something that needs doing and reading gets pushed farther and farther back until there's no time for it at all.  On Sundays, though, I have pretty much the whole day to devote to reading and I'm a much happier and at peace kind of person ;P.  This particular Sunday I spent most of the day reading "My Way of Life" by Father Walter Farrell and (of course) some M.M.Kaye mysteries.  Now I feel less guilty about not getting any reading done at all last week :).

I love details, don't you? Especially when they just make the whole piece of clothing look just so much more original, like the zippers on this sweater.  Anybody can have a blue sweater, but does your's have zippers? AND pockets? I thought not...;P

Hi there, ya'll!
I hope you're all staying well wherever you may be! I'm so grateful I haven't gotten sick this Winter and Autumn, except for a small cold in November.  Yesterday I was in Tulsa all day with my mom and brother grocery shopping, and today I had to go into town again, so I'm pretty tired, but I got some great deals on a few new sweaters at Salvation Army, so I'm happy XD.  I'm wearing my favorite one in the pictures below...

  • seventy degree weather in January
  • sloooooow internet
  • my Bulletproof Coffee getting cold...and the coconut oil hardening up on the top...yuck
  • playing the piano and realizing just how badly I need practice
  • long days grocery shopping in Tulsa
  • waking up one morning and wanting almost nothing more than to go swimming...and realizing that it's going to be several months before I actually can -_-
  • birthday gift shopping for a friend, and ending up with three things for myself instead
  • taking down all our Christmas decorations *cries*
  • being asked out to dinner by a complete stranger
  • typing this whole post only to have it delete itself as soon as I looked away
  • wrecking my parents' car
  • standing next to a stool at a juice bar with my little brother..."That stool is almost as tall as you!"

Another thing that made me smile this week was my Charming Charlie order coming in! I ordered a few gifts for some friends and some flower hair pins, and I absolutely *love* them! The pink one I'm wore today would be perfect for St. Valentine's Day...they're out of stock right now but they have some similar ones.

  • the latest "Beauty and the Beast"trailer
  • staying up past midnight with friends
  • empty journals just begging to be filled with words
  • discussions with friends about which Rom-Com character we each most resemble, in personality at least (mine was Sophie from "Letters To Juliet")
  • homemade fried chicken
  • good hair days
  • clear, starry nights
  • free goodies from L'Occitane XD
  • flower hair pins
  • learning hand-lettering
